Two prominent creators Jaroslav Dietl and Juraj Jakubisko fathered the film version of Pettersson’s novel “Frankenstein’s Aunt”. They joined their effort to understand the theme of Frankenstein with detached and kind humour tending to parody. However, they did not want to entertain people only. By their non-traditional treatment of traditional motifs they expressed their deep conviction and belief in the victory of humanity and commonsense and the defeat of man’s aggressive intolerance.

A TV series originated first, grasping the epic character of the story. On its basis the film version entitled ” Freckled Max and the Spooks’ was made. The story got another form and was endowed with still more poignant massage, seen through the eyes of a child hero - as a thrilling summer adventure of little comedian Max.
